Welcome to Fishers, IKEA!
This week our community celebrated one of the biggest stories to hit in 2015, the addition of the first Indianapolis-are IKEA store, in Fishers! And for an PR professional, it was a pinch yourself kind of moment! I mean, outside of the fact that Fishers has been home for me since I was in diapers, and is my workplace, it’s IKEA, and their ground breaking (as you’d imagine) did not disappoint.

Conference refresh: shakin’ up my mental
2016 has been another monumental year for the City of Fishers. By the time Mayor Fadness presented his State of the City address last February, we had already topped our jobs announcements for 2015, in entirety. My first indication that 2016 was not going to be a coast year for our organization. Continue reading
Team Fishers – Three Weeks to Launch
If Team Fishers doesn’t ring a bell, check out my earlier post which provides some context about this exciting project! If it does, does three weeks to launch make you as nervous as it did me when I was informed of the timeline?! Continue reading
Team Fishers – Empowering employees & creating advocates
Last November I was able to attend the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) International Conference in Atlanta. Stay tuned because there will be more to come on the 2016 International Conference (in Indy, you can register here!), and because I’m a networking queen I spent at least two hours at the networking fair. While there, I connected with a variety of organizations, many of which were in the industry of employee engagement. When I returned to Indy, I shared many of the lingering ideas with my boss, and while I was able to implement a great deal of what I learned, there was never a great opportunity to tackle employee engagement. Until now. Continue reading
3 C’s for Casey – Part III: Communication
And just like that, I’ve reached part III of my series, 3 C’s for Casey. If you missed the overview post or part II, no worries – you can check them out and return when you’re ready! But if you’re anxiously awaiting part III, here we go… Continue reading
3 C’s for Casey – Part II: Collaboration
By now, hopefully you’ve caught up on what I told you about the elevator pitch and what I think about creativity. Which leaves me at part 2 of this series, collaboration. It’s actually funny when I think about collaboration, because college-aged Casey hated working in groups. It seemed like there was always someone slacking their way through a project, and surprise, surprise, not much is different in the professional world! Just kidding, to an extent! In our organization, I find that even when we approach project collaboratively, there’s a whole lot that has to be delegated when it comes to execution and who’s responsible for which action item. But even despite the fact some plates leave the table fuller than others, I know I thrive in a collaborative work environment. Continue reading
3 C’s for Casey – Part 1: Creativity
In an earlier post (see here) I talked about the elevator pitch of my personal brand, and today I’m going to expand on that some by exploring the first of the 3 C’s. [Note: Yes, I intentionally choose C. What can I say? It’s my letter!] Continue reading
3 C’s for Casey – the Overview
As a young professional, in the PR/marketing/communication realm, it can be really difficult to distinguish myself from peers in the industry. With such a versatile skill set, it can be really challenging to determine what characteristics make me different from those around me. Luckily for me, I work for a leader that has challenged me since our first day working together to think about my brand. Your personal brand is as equally important as the brand you manage or advocate for, and today I’m going to share what I hope sets my personal brand apart from those around me. Continue reading
Tips from the Experts: a roundtable at Indy’s Speak Easy
I’m a networking queen. I get excited about learning from people, and I get ecstatic about meeting new professionals. (helloooo extrovert!) So, it should come as no surprise that about a week ago I seized the opportunity to stop by The Speak Easy in Indy and connect with local professionals. The panel included the amazing guests you’ll see below and the discussion centered on the theme of branding. Continue reading
